Lake Powell this year was a lot of fun but was also very stressful. We went without my parents for the first time ever this year because my Dad had been fighting an illness and they were waiting for test results. That made this year quite stressful but I have to say it was one of the best trips there we have ever had. Instead of staying at Halls Crossing we went further down the channel with the house boat to a very beautiful area. The picture above I took first thing in the morning from our houseboat. There were endless alcoves and inlets to see. I hope we go there again next year.
During the long drive out to the camp site Matthew got to drive a little. He loved it.
Our campsite was small but the little ones all found fun places to go play.
The area around us was loaded with catfish. Matthew caught his first real fish here. It was a pretty good size too.
He was very proud of his fish.
This summer Matthew learned to swim. He took individual lessons from O'Neal Aquatics and learned to float on his back. This made the lake much more fun. He wore a big boy life jacket that enabled him to stay upright in the water. He was a fish! He would swim all over on his own (life jacket on). I am so proud of him.
The houseboat has some canoes that were used a lot this trip. Dylan had fun taking the little ones out.
Daddy took Matthew way out to the other side of our little area.
Matthew loved the canoes.
Man do I have a little daredevil. Once Matthew took a ride on the tube he didn't want to get off. He never once got scared and wanted to keep going all day long. He was really upset when we made him stop.
With Mom and Dad staying home Jamie did more of the boat driving.
Going crazy on the tube! Daddy, Matthew and Dylan.
The kids made this great tunnel under the sand on the beach.
They loved crawling through
And out he comes.
This is when we were exploring one of the canyons in the boat. It really is beautiful down there.
All the kids enjoying the exploration.
The boat sure was full on these trips.
We even went and saw some old Indian ruins.
There were so many fish right by our camp that you could catch them with just a little hook and no bait. They would catch them and put them in a little bowl for the kids to play with.
